ELVIRA B. PIERCE SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION
Invitation to Participants
The Elvira B. Pierce Scholarship Fund (EBPFund) invites Overbrook High School graduating seniors to participate in our scholarship competition. The Elvira B. Pierce Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 and continues in memory of its late founder Elvira B. Pierce, who began the scholarship in 1980.
The scholarship award will be in the amount of $2,000. The deadline for submission of all applications is April 1.
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Must be a graduating senior at Overbrook High School.
2. Maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
3. Submit 2 letters of recommendations from teachers, counselors, or community or religious leaders
4. Be accepted for admission at an accredited institution of higher learning in a degree program and provide a copy of the acceptance letter issued by a two or four year accredited college or university.
5. Submit a 2-3 page typed essay (size 12 or 14 font) on “How I Plan to Serve My Community in the Future.”
Deadline for Submission
Entries must be submitted by April 9th. The Board of Directors of the Elvira B. Pierce Scholarship Fund will conduct a zoom interview with the candidates during the early spring of 2021. Scholarship winners will be notified by email. All essays will become the property of the Elvira B. Pierce Scholarship Fund. Winners will be required to sign a release giving the EBPFund permission to use their photographs and essays for publicity.
